Hi all. I’ve just cleaned the glass on the three piece glass work tops on my T6.1 ocean, unwittingly using glass cleaner/windolene. It has damaged the anodised aluminium trim on the outward edge ( the edge that clips down when closed). It has caused dull dark pitting marks all along the edge. Apparently I can’t buy just a new edge and each lid is £500 from VW which is scandalous . I’m trying to save myself £1500 by coming up with either a solution to restore the finish or source new lids from a breaker. I don’t imagine that they’re so easy to come by. I’m not interested in protectors . Just want the finish on the edge restored or replaced and keeping the original look. So far I’m drawing a blank. I was wondering if anyone else has had this? Can anyone suggest an aftermarket alternative or a breaker. Any help greatly appreciated.

Wrap with colour of your choice. Brighten up the interior. Or spray paint.

Not sure if this is helpful, but could I see a photo? Just cannot understand how windolene could do that (an abrasive cleaner yes, perhaps). As @WelshGas says, a wrap seems the best solution, either a professional 'detailer' as they now call themselves or something like:
