Fuel consumption on T7 California diesel.

The same here, after 15 years away from camper vans I nearly didn’t order the new T7 after reading all the doom and gloom, but when I realised there are more issues with the older models ( yes I know there are lots more out there) I had a light bulb moment and thought the only way is forward. I can honestly say it’s been spot on and a joy to drive, everything works as it should and to coin a phrase “does exactly what it says on the tin”. Just had a full week in Scotland, two+ the lab and plenty of storage space unused. The big question I have asked myself is would I buy it again and the answer is a big YES I would.
Great to hear, on long trips it takes a moment to remove one rear seat giving loads more space for our mad cockapoo, and yes I would definitely buy another as an every day vehicle it’s feels like a large posh suv

Nope! It says 45 in big letters and wouldn’t display 30 as the limit unless you’d gone past the sign. The 1500rpm shows you still had your foot on the accelerator rather than slowing down.

Anyway well done with the fuel consumption my T6.1 4motion was doing about 24mpg on average - either stop start in London or attempting to break the sound barrier on the M1

I would be interested to see T7 figures for say 90 or 100mph on the autobahn as that would reflect more closely our usage when going to Spain through France.
Hang on, this is a modern VW, the speed limit recognition is almost certainly wrong anyway. Both my T7 and my Enyaq seem to disagree with google maps data more often than they agree ;)

Also on a run from Durham to the Northumberland coast, about 70 miles most of the roads are 60 mph I’ll average 55/60 mph, wonderful

It picks up on the white 7.5ton speed limit signs the same as my Tesla, the speed limit on that section of dual carriageway is 40 for cars

I am not sure why people are concerned, its nearly a 3t vehicle, it drives great, and mine on a run gets over 50mpg keeping up with the flow, round town first few miles are low, but so was my mercedes e class. but once warmed up, its fine round town too, like most cars. I all 50mpg starts with cold low speeds, so it averages up, for 10mile journeys its already up to 45mpg.

Honestly bit of advice, turn off the MPG indicator on the dash and enjoy the vehicle. the fuel vs depreciation isn't worth worrying about. the half price road tax and half price annual insurance, and 5 years promise offset all the annual cost worries.

The difference between your 50mpg & the 25mpg I got out of a T6.1 4motion is worth £3000 a year when doing 10,000pa, thats more than Ive lost in depreciation. I don't know where you get half price tax & insurance from, Im paying considerably less for insurance on a new 911 than I was on an Ocean.

This is a T7 thread, im not comparing to a T6.1, Im suggesting, if you are paying circa 80k for a vehicle, don't sweat the fuel economy.

I’ve just added 15kg to the roof with 2x solar and wingbars, was getting 47mpg with 900 miles on the clock.
Will see how it affects the mpg tomorrow on a 300 mile round trip.

I don’t know whether feathering the throttle on EV’s to get the most miles over the last 8 years has tempered my right foot without me realising it……in truth i would be well happy with 46mpg out of a brick weighing nearly 3 ton.
