Answer: 'Not all but mostly, haha'
We recently purchased a Cadac Safari Chef 2 LP Deluxe Pro QR having lusted after one for years. Having used it twice now I do at least have some (limited) experience with it and first impressions.
The kit does seem well made and certainly very easy to use, however packing and unpacking is more akin to playing a game of Jenga or building a 3D puzzle! The 'Pro' version comes withs the pan lid and feels likes Cadac have overlooked how to pack it in the current (old) storage bag. Also despite what Cadac suggest the new version really does need the pot stand/support to be in place in order to stop the flat grill plates slipping out of place.
As for the cooking? well it has exceeded my expectations! First time use we simply cooked a few burgers on the slotted BBQ rack and put some water in the base of the fat catcher. After just 3 or 4 mins preheat on medium it was good to go, I lightly oiled the grill plate and slapped the burgers on, 4 mins a side and the last two with flat cheese on top to melt. There were a few drips of fat that caught fire and gave a lovely smokey 'flame grilled' flavour. The burgers were tasty and moist. I lightly toasted the flat sides of the burger buns for the last 2 minutes and they were excellent too.
Second time use we cooked a couple of thin steaks on the frying griddle. these were done in about 3 minutes total and were easy to cook and flip.
So, you don't really want to hear about my cooking skills (or lack of them lol) but I mentioned the food cooked for context with the following remarks:
1. Compared to using a 'proper' BBQ (we have a Weber Go Anywhere) the Cadac is simple and fast. Unlike the Weber it can be turned up or down, or even off for a few minutes between burgers (we cooked two, ate them leisurely and then fired up the Cadac again and re ran the fun).
2. If using the slotted BBQ rack then expect quite a lot of cleaning up afterwards! (not so easy without full washing up facilities on a basic site?)
3. By contrast the flat griddle plate was very easy, minimum mess and cleaned just like cleaning a good non stick frying pan.
4. Something I was NOT expecting was how just how quick and easy the whole process generally was. No faffing about for 20 to 30 minutes waiting for charcoal to reach the right temperature, and cooking everything either too fast or too slow and in a short space of time. The heat was controllable and the whole cooking process turned out to be more relaxing than with charcoal.
5. Unlike charcoal it is quite possible to go from thinking about having a 'BBQ' to eating the food in less than 15 minutes from start to finish (you get the idea).
Packed up, the Cadac fits neatly in the space above the gas locker so is always available. With a separate gas pipe and regulator it is used with the same 907 already in the van.
I'm quite sure I will have more to say as time goes on and we get to use it more, but for now it really does feel like 'Why did we not get one sooner?!'
Side notes: We specifically bought this so we could use it both at home and in the van. This allows us to engage in all the type of cooking that is undesirable in a small space like the van or at home, e.g smelly and smokey stuff like pan fried fish, searing steaks at high temperature, flame grilling (haha) etc etc.
It won't suit everyone but it does have the advantage of being compact and (relatively) quick, stores in the gas locker space and allows for outdoor cooking without the need for a supply of charcoal or electricity.
(Gratuitous photo of the first burger, I didn't take any of the Cadac other than video which won't post)
