T6.1 Ocean 150
We are a couple that travel with our largish dog. A little tempted by the T7 as we could easily remove one or both rear seats to make more room when travelling as we could sleep upstairs.
Has anyone else made the move and been generally happy or do they regret it?

Moved from T6 conversion to 7 ocean. No regrets and moving the seats in/ out is easy. The one nearest the sink still allows the bed downstairs to be used but appreciate you are creating room for a dog. If you have an ocean now, the loss of current storage might be an issue but for me it’s just different rather than less.

We have two dogs, we have made the bottom bed shorter to get the extra space required, the original is too long and takes up much needed space. The bed is now 180cm long and works perfectly.

I think you’ll be fine to just remove the chair nearest the sink. It’s more area than using a dog cage.
You won’t be able to have any heating on though while the dog is there. We don’t have a dog, but like having the extra room.

Ahh, so you made your own, didn’t modify the original ?
I didn’t want to modify the original in case I wish to sell the van in the future, I also remove the seat nearest the kitchen unit and this gives plenty of space under the bed, as I said in another post the quest airlux 100 (180x100x10) fits perfectly on the boards and takes less room packed than the original. The Vango rock n roll king also fits (180x112x10) but is a very snug fit. I also removed the upstairs mattress and use the Vango upstairs for a comfy nights sleep. The Vango once deflated can be left up top with the roof down. The bottom vw mattress can be easily altered by unzipping the section nearest the back and replacing the foam as there is no board in this section.

We will be keeping the T6.1 made enquiries regarding a 74 plate tsi ocean today on at over 67k.
Dealer was only willing to offer 56 to 58k for our 74 plate 6.1 ocean with only 2400 miles on it. In totally as new condition.

Try motorway for selling yours.
Then strike a drive the deal bargain on a new one, with £9 to £10k off.
Take that DTD to your nearest dealer or pref Brad at Breeze, Poole and he will beat DTD price.

I’m just wondering if it’s possible to modify the original, as losing 10cm isn’t really going to concern any new buyer.
The average male and female are 175cm and 162cm respectively.
So a 180cm bed is just right.
Is there one part which is 10cm longer than the other two. I can’t remember and not home until Friday.

Has anyone tried unzipping the rear section and removing the foam?

My Mrs is short and would be happy with the remaining 2 sections, I assume that the foamless bit could just fold underneath?

Interesting thought. I’ll try Friday.

My mrs is short and she has tried just the two sections, the last section nearest the boot has no board and can be stood vertical against the rear window (acts very well as a blind) but after one night she realised she needed an extra few inches to stretch out. I have unzipped that section but not tried to remove the foam but I’m sure it will just slide out. As the bed is too hard for her a made another.

The back end is around 12cm of just soft foam, so if I remove that, then it should fit ?

But now I’m thinking if that’s just soft foam and the two top boards (that fold out) have a 12mm ply underneath, is that because the boards sit on top of the seats (and the foam sits on the rear shelf) and I need to remove 10cm from the other end?

The foam is 12mm thinner in the two sections with boards in. I unzipped them to measure the board thickness,

It just seemed easier to put three new boards in rather than butcher the original bed

Interesting !
So I could butcher the bed to free up 10cm easily.
Unless a 6’ foot 4” person wanted to buy the vehicle !

I’m thinking, undo the zip, measure and using a craft knife, remove 10cm of foam and tuck it underneath.
Job done.
Could always pop the foam back for resale if needed ?
I could sew in some Velcro under the part that hangs down to attach the mattress to the loop Velcro under the rear shelf. So the whole thing doesn’t slip forwards. Nice.

Would be easier to buy the right size foam, it’s only cheap sh*t* they have used. You can get it cut to size from Amazon for the price of a cuppa.
