Hi,
I am currently in the Outer Hebrides (and tomorrow is Sunday) and my control panel has come up with the error message
Error: operating system. Please visit workshop.
This is a bit of an issue as I have no idea how to pop the roof without the control panel!
We have tried removing and replacing fuses 5-8 and the orange 5 amp fuse under the passenger seat but to no avail!
Would be really grateful for any suggestions anyone has
Thanks

Provided you have pulled the correct fuses, the “nuclear option is to disconnect the engine (starter) battery negative terminal wait 30 seconds and reconnect.

See for correct fuses location diagram post #51 https://vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/t-6-1-ocean-control-panel-reset.34713/post-657752
This screen grap is the same message in German and the 30 second battery disconnect to reset

Failing this it is a manual release of the roof details at post #53 or if you have VW assist contact them.

Thank you so much for coming back to me. Now trying to pluck up the courage to disconnect the battery (we’re not very mechanical!) did you have any issues after doing this?

I have not had to do this just showing the option if the 4 fuse reset didn’t work.
So, just to be clear.
Double check that you pulled the 4 correct fuses and waited 30 secs to 1 minute for the panel to fully power down for the reset before replacing.
If no joy then the starter battery negative terminal disconnect but you will need an adjustable spanner.

See attached.

Only issue I can see is that you may need your user name and password for the infotainment system to log back in.

If unsure then VW assist if you have it.

Thank you, we will now try and beg/borrow a spanner from someone at the campsite!

We found the solution thanks to a different post on this great site. To reset the control panel we removed the 5 amp fuse from the front row of fuses under the passenger seat as in the photo. We tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours and removing fuses 5-8 but this didn’t work for us. We are 2021 T6.1.

Glad you found a solution.
Clearly, the control panel must also have a feed from the leisure batteries, as this is the only reason that disconnecting the starter battery did not work but pulling this fuse (which is only serviced by the leisure battery system) worked.
Valuable result for all who have this issue on the T6.1
Please would you share/forward the link that you found.
