Roof corrosion recall - has it ended?

Hi all
I bought a t5.1 beach in march 2022. I found out about the roof corrosion recall through this forum and I booked into the local dealer who then liased with vw and agreed to fix the corrosion under the recall. I was booked in a couple of years later - may 2026!
Just dropped the van off at vw last Friday and got a courtesy car. However the dealer phoned me today and said the recall is no longer running and I would have to collect the van- recall cancelled !
Does that sound right and has anyone else heard that ?

It might well be finished NOW, but was it finished when the Dealership and VW agreed to fix it.

Any delay between the agreement and undertaking the work is immaterial.

The recall you are referring to? Is it the application of a clear plastic tape along the edges of the roof, under the rubber seal?

HL motors told me they replace that

If the dealers told me correctly it is finished surely they would complete agreed works. I was wondering if anyone else is booked in or recently had it done ..

I would contact VW direct. Known fault and repair agreed to not your fault re the waiting list.Consider a legal approach.

Ok. They don’t replace the panel above the windscreen, they used to, but the latest repair was to remove the areas of galvanic corrosion. Apply a high Zinc primer then a colour coded plastic cap is bonded on.
Numerous postings on the forum relating to the bonding failing after a few years and significant water leaks and damage to head lining etc:. No comeback on the bodyshop that does the work.
Others, that do not want the repair have just got a bodyshop to rub back to bare metal , high Zinc primer and then undercoat and spray to match.

The VW repair was costed at some £3000 but the respray £500. Choice is yours.
