VW app connectivity and Infotainment system update

Hello. I recently got an email for VW telling me there was an update needed, this being to do with 2G/3G switch off and continued working of emergency calls and mobile online services. This worked with no apparent problem, until I noticed connectivity problems between the VW app and the vehicle's infotainment system. I was unable to remotely lock / unlock the vehicle, among other functions offered. I've spoken to VW Digital Services Support (0800 279 7508 / option1) and it utters out the reason for this is that, even though I had set the privacy settings to 'share my location', the system was returning to 'maximum privacy' after ignition switch-off. Having gone through the steps to reset the system with their help, they are escalating this to 2nd line support as that failed to resolve this problem. I'm posting this message in case anyone else has had this problem and, once I hear back, I will post an update here.
 
Mine is terrible at connecting, worse since the UMM (I think) update. I'll check the privacy settings today, but it was at share everything.

I had exactly this problem and I think a few others have too.

I had to delete my user profile from the van and then re-add it as the default. Make sure it's the same one you login to the app with and have set (and know) the S-PIN. You should then be able to set privacy etc and it will keep the settings.

I only ever had one profile (mine) with both keys assigned to it but I think others have had to go through the process of re-adding the keys too. One person said they couldn't delete the default but were able to add a new one and set that to default instead.

Thanks - interesting to know. I suspect they may come back to me to do what you did. I'll be prepared for that now, if that happens :)
