I have a beach with two rear seats only. I really wanted to buy the new Cfx5, they are vacuum isolated and should be very efficient. But even the smallest one is too big for me.
I considered following placement options:
1. Between front seats.
Obvious spot but only 245mm wide. And I enjoy walking to the back too much to give it up.
2. In the trunk:
I hate opening the trunk doors. Too heavy and never able to close them on the first try. Need to slam them hard. Fridge would not be easily accessible.
3. Instead of the third seat, under the bed.
Reasonable choice. You have 425mm height available. Dometic would fit here. I might go for this option if I feel the need for a larger fridge. But the space is precious and I first want to try a smaller one:
4. Behind the rear seats but before the trunk (technical box) starts.
Max 280mm high to fit under the folded rear seats under the bed.
I figured out, that this is the only storage space that is comfortably reachable from the cabin. If you move the rear seats about 25-30cm forward, the living space is still large enough. You have at your disposal storage of this size: 125*25cm. Best utilized, when you stack two 25cm high boxes on each other. Because 28-25cm box fits under the folded seat under the bed. I searched fridges, that are close to this 23*~50*28cm optimal size.

True size after removing handles is: 433*322*280mm. It's very quiet and it can fit 1.5l waterbottle or wine bottles. That is all I need. It consumes around 20w when running. I think this tiny one will be enough.
But the 32cm width is a bit too much. So I ended up to recess it about 5cm into the trunk on the right side of the vehicle, where there is free space (not the tech box). Will post a photo soon.
Now I'm on the hunt for other boxes that will fit that space behind the seats.
