California Specialist to fix electric roof

Hi everyone,

I have a Volkswagen T5.1 Cali, 2012. It has a problem with the electric pop-up roof. One side has had a failure. I’ve taken it my local VW Van Centre who had it for two weeks, investigated the problem and bought the parts but then advised that they cannot fix the roof as it is bonded to the box or frame and they do not have the body shop expertise to mend it. Does anyone know any VW Van Centre that could help with this in the north of England? Or a Cali specialist. Preferably in the Yorkshire area.

Which VW van centre did you take it to? I believe the VW van centre in Birstall/Cleckheaton area has a good reputation.

What exactly is wrong with the roof?
I get the impression your Dealership aren't interested and spinning a story.
The structure of the roof and hydraulic system/supports is a relatively straightforward system . So what has failed?

Thanks for the suggestions I'll try the west Yorkshire one. And Volksvans. It was the VW van centre in Hull. To tell you the truth I'm not sure they actually know the problem. Initially they said it was a hydraulic damper mount. Then with further investigation said it is the hydraulic cylinder or ram. They said they don't have the body shop expertise, or expertise fixing older Californias, as the roof is bonded to the box. And don't want to try in case they break something else.

It's the same method of roof construction for the T5/6/6.1.
Try another Dealership.
