While washing the van today, I noticed that the rear end caps on the roof rails are coming unstuck. The near side is particularly bad, and it would appear that the sealant used to stick it down has actually pulled the paint off underneath it. Has anybody else had this issue? I have had the van from new and only ever wash it myself, and I only use a sponge and brush, never a pressure washer, so I am concerned as to why this has happened.

No seen before. Are you still in warranty?

Thankfully yes, I was just interested in seeing if anyone else had experienced it. It's really annoying another visit to the dealership will now be required:(

Very common fault , some dealers stick the, back without anyone noticing ( I noticed , said nothing and they miraculously re stuck themselves during a service) .

Various posts on the forum, if in warranty, take it back, if out of warranty, I believe the weapon of choice is Sikaflex - various products will do the job.

Use the search function to find other threads , if you struggle re post and I'll have a look for you.

Thanks perfectos, I did try 4 different search inquiries but obviously I wasn't using the right words because I couldn't find anything any help would be appreciated.

Having just re read your original post I can see it's the Roof Chanel ends not the roof awning Channel ends that have the issue. Not so common but just as likely because it bet it's thd same factory adhesive.

I have had both the awning rail ends and roof track end (one side) become unbonded.
To refix I used Tiger seal PU adhesive/sealant to refix. Similar to Sikaflex. In the Sikaflex (huge) range the 521 or 522 look to me to be the most suitable.

When doing the roof track ends experiment (before applying the glue) with a combination of clamps / heavy weights how to hold the trim in place while the glue dries. Seem to recall the far end wanted to lift up and out of alignment (its was a few years ago I needed to fix mine).

Thanks Owen
I will probably fix it myself the cost of a tube of sealant is cheaper then than the drive to Poole and back.
