Anyone had a recent experience of Halfords Dash Cam install? I have a thinkware front and back camera for install and not sure whether local store staff are up to the job?

I was told by halfords a while ago after they phoned someone, that they would not install one in my cali.

Might be because of the rear blind, as depending on the size of the camera it might be difficult to find a decent fixing position that dosn’t foul / touch the roller blind when it’s closed. (Without removing the camera each time the blind is moved).

I am looking for decent mobile installer near Reading, any recommendations pleas3?

I was just after a front camera . Was told it was on a list of vehicles that they don’t fit cameras to. If my memory serves me right it was something to do with front blinds and hiding the cable.

They are correct, as camera will need to be removed each time if using the VW cloth windscreen blind. If a concertina blind is fitted then will need one of the third party trim adapters sold on eBay which pushes the blind off the windscreen slightly so that it doesn’t foul the camera (then no need to remove when blind is closed).

We did a DIY hardwired fit on our
Old Beach (cloth blinds) following a YouTube video carried out by a Halfords employee!…and then later installed on a our Joker which had the built in concertina blinds (slightly different design to Cali roller blinds), had to take the blinds out in order to get the wire under the plastic windscreen trims. Straightforward but takes a bit of time.

….Expect they would fit with cloth blinds, but they are worried about the people with limited common sense demanding a refund because they can’t leave the camera up in parking mode when the blinds are closed.

I would suggest not. I'd use these guys who aren't a million miles away from Reading.

They supplied and fitted U3000 I think front and rear for me and were very competent. They hardly removed any trim apparently.

Don't know if they'd do fit only but why not?
