Virtual dash and sat nav

That setting may be specific to the Discover Media infotainment system (the one with physical knobs). IIRC that one could display the map either on the screen or on the virtual cockpit but not on both at the same time.

The Discover Pro system (the one with a larger screen and touch-sensitive buttons that I guess you have) always displays the map on both the screen and the virtual cockpit so there wouldn’t be any need for that setting.
@sidepod discovery media pro is same as one in my vehicle with large touch screen.
His has this option, mine no longer has it?

Issue happens when using Google maps, Apple Maps or in built VW Nav.
Didn’t happen until a few weeks ago and I previously had the setting to show map in the centre of the cluster or not and now don’t.

Incidentally, I’ve confirmed that I’m now seeing the same behaviour: starting navigation on either Google Maps or Apple Maps results in the virtual cockpit to automatically switch to a completely useless map view.

Waze is still unaffected.

The Google Maps update description on the Apple App Store are useless - just the same generic “bug fixes and improvements” for every update. Reasonably sure that it’s Google Maps finally integrating properly with Apple Car Play and notifying Car Play of navigation activity. Happens on other cars too: https://lucidowners.com/threads/carplay-nav-on-cockpit-screen.12848/

Sucks that the VW support for this is so rubbish.

Sidepod’s picutre earlier on this thread shows that they have the Discover Media with the smaller screen and physical knob (you can see the physical knob on the right hand side of their picture)

Thanks for the correction.
I did note that when I used Apple Maps to check this out (which I never have used on this vehicle for Navigation, all my Google Maps recent destinations were present in Apple Maps history showing that this integration with Car play may have happened, as you can see from my photo of the Apple Maps on my phone, nothing in the phones history.

Recently the traffic conditions has vanished from my map in the virtual dash. Has this happened to anyone else?

Traffic conditions is part of the VW paid-for (and stupidly expensive) WeConnect service. When you buy a California, depending on which infotainment system you picked, you get 1 year or 3 year of free access to WeConnect. After that, unless you pay, all the WeConnect features stop working.

Including OTA updates apparently.
Had an email from VW that they will be moving to a monthly subscription model that you can stop/ resume like Netflix/Apple TV.
