Pulled away from home today when the front right parking sensor sounded. Nothing around to warrant this. Drove the van yesterday afternoon with no indication of an impending problem.

Restarting the van made no difference. Seems to activate when below 10 mph. The red warning light shows on dashboard to indicate the sensor.

I had to turn the sectors off in order for the noise to stop although this was automatically overridden.

The sensor does not appear damaged per attached photo.

I’d appreciate anyone’s comments.

Many thanks

Switch on the Parking sensors. Listen to each one with a stethoscope or a narrow glass open end over the sensor and ear to base of glass.
If you hear it clicking it’s working if No click it’s not working and needs replacing.

You could, before replacing, try wd40. I had the same problem with 3 sensors not working, got 2 back in working order using wd40. Spray with the tube direct into.the sensor.

Also try contact cleaner (or brake clutch cleaner) on contacts at first plug/socket,

Thank you to WelshGas, Tycho and secret lemonade drinker for your suggestions. I tried the WD40 approach as i could lay my hands on a can; very pleased to say it appears to have done the trick!
