The lacquer but not the paint is lifting in many places on external plastic trim pieces - ie not main main metal panels. When it separates from the paint the lacquer then turns yellow instead of clear. The pain below seems to be intact but I have this discoloured bubble over it. This is happening in many places on the roof, the side body trim pieces and the corner rear trim below the lights. It's a 15 year old vehicle. Has anyone else had this and how did you deal with it. Could I remove it and pain a clear fresh lacquer over it to protect the paint. I don't really want to take it to a paint shop who have advised it would need removing all trim pieces, replacing many of them that won't replace easily and respraying before replacing. Not only will that cost several thousand pounds but as it is red I very much doubt that any respray will be a perfect match that lasts. In my experience it will always end up fading differently to original paint. All suggestions welcome!
