Just as a matter of interest, has anyone done a dimensions comparison between the T6.1 Cali and new T7?

longer but narrower:

I've not taken much notice of Multivans up to now, but am getting much more familiar with the two different sizes of SWB / LWB. Several comments on the main thread about the length now exceeding 5M.

T7 California 5.17 m
T6 California 4.90 m

I would Like to measure interior. I think ceiling is shorter as well. Kitchen is wider.

I will keep my T6

I had the opportunity to drive the New California and let me tell you, it drives better, like a passenger van, but other things are worse. the kitchenette is tiny, only one burner, fewer cabinets, no drawer under the rear seats, what is there can be used as a glove compartment. After unfolding the bed, there is practically no space left to stand. We can no longer hide the table in the side door and it was great solution. No powerful diesel with 4x4 drive .This vehicle has lost its iconic California character. It doesn't suit me personally.

Was the vehicle you tested the PHEV 4Motion model? I'm curious about your power statement regarding 4x4, if it was based on the driving experience.

We have got a T7 California as a courtesy vehicle while out T6.1 has some warranty work carried out. I totally agree with all you have said. It DOES drive better for handling and cornering etc and the wind noise, tyre noise and engine noise is a lot quieter. BUT from there on it’s not a patch on our T6.1 for practicality and usability.

If you only look at the outer lengths, you would think the T7 has a bigger interior. The only thing is, the nose of the T7 is much longer, so the interior space isn't bigger.

Oh, the T5 up to T6.1 have the same dimensions because of the same base vehicle.

Don’t want to get into a mine is better than its argument, but different people have different requirements, you say the T6.1 is more practical,

Go and do this to your T6.1 by yourself with no tools in less than 5 minutes. That’s the practicality I wanted, which is one reason I chose the T7 over the older model.

Each to their own, and enjoy what you have, we all have a great vehicle, whichever model it is.

I've had a T7 Hybrid for a week now - I agonised over 6.1/7 for ages. For me the T7 works better for one or two of us travelling with sports gear inside the van (for security). If I was in a family of 4 I'd have gone for the 6.1 for the increased interior space.
Dont get me wrong - the T7 is definitely flawed in its current form - the integration between the Phev electrics and the camper electrics could be better. I think there are a few software bugs that need ironing out but nothing that I cant live with.
What pushed me over the edge was (in no particular order):
The two rear easily movable / removable rear seats (I remove one when camping)
Easy walk through from the drivers seat thanks to the removal of the handbrake and the gear lever
PHEV Hybrid option
5 year warranty, servicing etc
Superb vehicle driving experience (I've driven many Caracelles so am used to the Transporter)

Its a different vehicle thats or sure and will suit some more than others - horses for courses IMHO

Where did you get the black floor mat?

And if you've ever removed a bench seat from an T5\6\6.1 Ocean \ SE, you'll really appreciate the significance of this improvement!
