Number plate heat damage

The front number plate of my new Ocean has fallen off. I assume the heat has melted the glue holding it on. Surely VW should use a fixing method that is reliable. Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there a permanent fix?

Not unique to Cali’s - happened to a BMW X3 I had, and an Audi before that. Get some good double sided sticky pads - found 3M are the most resilient.

SMG fit these. No sticky tape to melt in the heat. Perhaps a little easier to steal, but i'v not lost any in 10 years.

VW per se don't fit the number plates. Your Dealer does. Different Dealerships use different methods.

I've used Tesa Powerbond Outdoor double-sided tape successfully for number plates etc and if you use decent lengths of it you'll have a job getting the plate off again. Don't be tempted by cheapo sticky fixers, they won't stay on.

A bit of a problem if you later buy a personalised plate.

Unless you either use screws to fix the plate on or better still number plate surrounds. Not that expensive off eBay.
