Heiligenblut camping and GrossGlockner

So we left Croatia first thing this morning and headed North back to Austria aiming for the GrossGlockner.

Arrived in Heiligenblut for lunch and pitched up in the fab little site below the village.

Absolutely stunning drive up from Leinz.

Over the Gross tomorrow.

We were there a few weeks ago. Absolutely loved the GrossGlockner. Managed to have a bacon sandwiches at 2300m, took a while to cook mind you.

If you need a campsite the other side.
Panorama Camp Zell Am See was pretty well located to supermarket, lake the town.
All easy via cycle.

We started Gross from there a few years back

Cheers. We tried to get in there at Easter but couldn’t do we ended up at the other end of the lake.

Not sure where from here.

Have a great drive. We did the Gross in June just after it had opened. It was fabulous and so was the weather.

Off to Zell in a couple of weeks for our first euro trip in Moz.

Will also make a second attempt of the GrossGlockner, out first attempt pre-kids ended in a very smokey clutch on our Landie and having to turn back.

If you have half a day free before heading into the GrossGlockner I’d recommend heading to Zell am Ziller and taking the cable car to the top station where there’s a massive adventure playground. Our boys loved it.

Sooo, the Glock was Uber. The old bus stormed up it. Managed to semi-cook the anchors on the descent into Zell. Stinky brakes. Stopped for 20 mins to get the pedal back.

Loved it. Onwards to Swartzworld.
