I’m booked in for a diagnostic test and I’ve asked if they will repair the spark ignition on a cooking ring. Before I waste another 6 hours sat waiting in a VW showroom has anyone on here any knowledge of whether it’s actually covered on warranty? I’m kind of happy my warranty is about to run out and I can start using my local garage again. Thinking of cancelling tbh.

I gave up on the irritating noisy non functioning push button igniter thingy and just use a gas lighter. At least it works first time every time.

There’s a little plastic connector just underneath the push button, accessible through the cupboard. It has probably become disconnected. It’s certainly worth taking a couple of minutes to check.

It's not a "wear & tear" item, so on the std warranty, yes, if an extended warranty there can be exclusions. As above though, it's just a wire at the back so likely fell off. There is a mod on here too to make it battery powered but TBH I've never had an issue with it.

Same occurred on ours.

Check that the ignition electrode has not been pushed down under the hob. If so, just pull it back into place with your fingers, or, push from underneath. (Happened in our club joker, as it kept catching items in the overfilled drawer underneath)
