My VW 2025 California Coast (T7 Multivan) is french registered and on the Carte Grise in section j1 it is classed as M1(Passenger Car) in J2 it is SA(Camping-Car) and in section J3 it is classed as a “Caravane”.
What is yours classed as?
In another thread some contributers say their van is classed as a passenger car and use this classification for such as insurance and when booking ferries etc.
This may started a debate, hopefully amicable, thoughts anyone.
In my opinion, to start it off, mine’s a campervan not a car!
Regarding insurance, I’m currently insured “toutes risques” with Allianz, costs are €75/month. I joined the FFCC(Federarion Française Camping-Caristes)€39/year which gave a discount of 25% on full price to get this price. Shopped around and for our needs suits our lifestyle and use of the van.
