Sliding door electrical closure

Our sliding door opens and closes manually except for the last inch which closes electrically,it used to shut easily now we have to slam it to get it to electrically close the last inch which closes,any ideas?

Clean the electrical contacts on the sliding door and drivers door pillar.
Lubricate the lock on the C pillar that pulls door in closed.

Thanks what do you suggest I clean them with,they look very delicate and zi don’t want to mess the contacts up

Pan scrubber for non-stick pans, rough cloth or similar or electrical contact cleaner or meths.

I had this and it was the bottom runner that needed replacing (about £20). It was perfect afterwards.

I have this issue intermittently on a T6 2018. Cleaning the contact points never makes any difference, however, having the door open and turning on the ignition usually performs a reset and gets it working again.

Alternatively, have someone hold open the lock on the inside, close the door and someone on the outside push it shut at the rear, then release the lock. This manual force-close also resets it.

It happens so rarely I just live with it.

I read something about a locking mechanism at the back of the door near the runner sticking and a squirt of lube fixed it, but never been there personally. This might be why replacing the whole runner has worked for some, though that seems like overkill when a squirt may well do the trick.

 

[Doorbundle]

The locking mechanism striker at the back of the door in the C Pillar has an electrically operated pivot which should pull in the door when closing. A squirt of White Grease cured mine.
