Hello All
My 680 is almost 4 years old old. It’s only done 12000 miles. It has gone through the usual Vw dealership service system. Now I am out of warranty I am wondering how I should follow further servicing. My dealership ( Listers Droitwich) say I require a full service now even though the mileage is low. This will cost £500.
I am asking for your advice/experience on :
1. Do I really need a full service at that low mileage?
2. Is it best to stick with a VW dealer or should I go to my trusted local mechanic who sorts our family VW T roc ? This will be cheaper and take far less effort dropping off vehicle?

Advice appreciated

Will this help with my questions about whether I need a major service at 12 k miles?
Short answer, regular servicing is more important on low milage vehicles. Some items are Time and / or Milage limited. Tyres/ suspension / brakes are designed to be used not standing in one position for months on end. Oil and other fluids deteriorate over time and depend on regular use to slow down degradation. The list is long.
Use it or lose it, is more true with low milage than high milage vehicles.

On my California, 140,000 miles in 10 yrs I had 1 set of brake pads, front discs and an ABS sensor, but annual oil and filter changes + DSG oil change and air filters by time/milage.

At 12k I'd just do an oil and filter change on the engine
