We don't use much electricity and rarely need electric hook-up - we have 2 'Roger' solar panels. However, we were thinking of taking our Oral-B rechargeable electric toothbrush with us next time. Does anyone take one of these with them and manage to charge it without needing hook-up?

Capacity wise no problem BUT with the early 150 watt inverter on the T5/5.1 there were reports of the toothbrush charger being damaged.

Yes. We have exactly the same product. No issues at all over 2 years. 300 watt inverter on ours but I measured our toothbrush charger at 45watts.

Sounds good! I’ve not explored ‘inverters’ before. Isn’t that a 3 point plug? Do you use a converter socket then?

If you have a T6.1 (as your profile says) you already have sockets that are inverter powered off the leisure battery. Is this a new vehicle to you?

Your inverter socket is a multi plug socket. The charger plug should plug in OK. If not use the same adapter you use if plugging into a domestic socket.

our newer Phillips brushes now come with USB chargers instead of shaver socket - if you have a look you might just be able to get a USB one which would be more efficient as the 12v wouldn't need to be stepped up to 240v and then stepped down again

From recollection the charging does not work from the invertor unless you have a flat sine wave invertor. I believe the 300W ones are flat, and the 150W ones not. EHU they will charge fine.

The invertor is the plug on your drivers seat. You can use them in a pinch to power 240V from the leisure batteries off EHU, to a max wattage of 150 or 300W. Good enough for a laptop, not great for the hairdryer and air fryer crowd. It is the upside down UK plug that also fits a EU plug and likely these will plug straight in. Never taken ours TBH. Just the arm powered ones.

If it doesn't work there is also an option to go for USB-C, works just fine I can say from my own experience and after braking down two chargers that came with the OralB toothbrush.

USB charger works fine, available from lots of sellers including Amazon for a modest price & lots of Chinese sites for next to nothing.

I got a cheap USB-A charger from Aliexpress for my Braun toothbrush it works well.

I've never had a problem using a manual toothbrush when we're away, but as we intend to travel more than our current 13 weeks a year, I thought it was worthwhile looking-in to this as electric toothbrushes are generally recommended as being better for us.

It sounds like a decent USB powered charger might be more efficient and so I'm attracted to this option. I've had mixed quality buying similar things online, so I'll tread with care. Thanks for the help folks.

Phillips toothbrush battery is way better than an Oralb like previous post said also usb charging within a travel case. It’s a normal toothbrush head not round either.
Make sure you get the one with travel case/usb charging as the super cheap ones don’t
