Hello Will,

Could I ask a maybe stupid question? Is it possible to fit the Outwell awning to a California that has the factory wind-out awning in place?

The reason I ask is that I use the California awning with the Comfortz room when camping alone, but the Outwell could be useful when the family is with me, but I wouldn’t want to remove the California wind-out awning from it’s mounting brackets to allow this?

Hi Chris,

Definitely not a stupid question! It's possible to make it work easily with a special connector, but you'll have to purchase separately. Or you can just throw the flap onto the roof over the top of the van awning and tie it down on the passenger side - but that's not very elegant!

There's this one which looks like it would work quite well and is available at Decathlon too.

Anything like the link above with a "sliding bead" fastening system mechanically fixed to the van would be fastest and most reliable - particularly if it's a bit windy.

I used the Outwell on a converted Transporter without an awning, and used a magnetic connector - but this won't be any good on the California.

I'm the opposite of you - I'm selling because the family have grown up now and are doing their own thing! I don't need the space any more and can make do with just the van awning.
