T7 ocean
We picked up our new T7 Ocean yesterday.Iv never drove a VW camper before, other than a test drive. Iv got to say, after driving it on different roads and speeds, I'm really impressed with it. It drives great for a large vehicle, very smooth. Ours is the 2L diesel, came with a towbar, 19 inch wheels and advanced parking. To my inexperienced eye, everything on it serms top notch and very good quality. There is so much technology on the van it going to take a while to learn, but i suppose thats some of the fun. Can't wait to get out in it properly. There are only the 2 of us and no dog, so I can't see storage being an issue. Hopefully. One of the back seats can be removed easily and left at home if we do need more space for longer trips. The deal we got was very good especially with the 5 year promise they are doing. A big change for us as we have Screenshot_20260327_230201_WhatsApp.jpgnever done this kind of thing before, waited until 60 years old !

Excellent news and we hope you enjoy your new van. I understand that one seat can be removed and the bed still function but there are articles on the forum detailing this so you just need to search.
:welcome

You will love your time with your Cali, enjoy it, and feel free to ask questions on the forum.
The search facility is you new best friend ;)

Best of luck in your camper - I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
We picked ours up in Feb (petrol Ocean with towbar, ACC, comfort sliding doors, advanced parking and 19” alloys) - it virtually drives itself on the motorway (incl. steering) which I’m impressed by.
We installed a Spacemate which has really helped with packing (two adults and a very small dog) - we always camped in tents before so now feel like we have tonnes of room! We pack a couple of extra chairs, a table, cadac, small induction hob, Anker Solix power station, bedding, outdoor rug, levelling ramps, clothes etc. etc. and find we don’t struggle for space. We’ve not been away for more than a week so far though hope to venture on longer trips as we get the hang of it.
The only surprise is fuel consumption - about 18mpg around town and 26mpg on the motorway - I was hoping for a little more!

The thought of two adults and a very small dog sharing the Spacemate made me chuckle ;)
Thanks for planting that image in my head :thumb

Sounds like the same spec as ours except we went for the diesel. Its a bit on the slow side but quite torqey. We traded in a bmw M340D, sick of boy racers.. and you cant sleep in a BMW, so anything is going to be slow to that ! We are new to it as well. been looking on the forums etc to find out what best to get, I think we will get the space saver like you, even though it pricey. Apparently you can buy a cover for the oven lid as this seems bound to get scratched. . We do a lot of walking in the lakes etc and wanted a base to start from and stay over night to start, already planning longer trips though. I think the Cali is really an impressive thing, trying to imagine having something like this 30 years ago!
Hope you have a lot of good times in your Cali.
Just a question does the space saver rattle at all

We’ve not had any rattles from the Spacemate so far - it is really well made and feels like it was factory fitted. Not sure why VW don’t have it as an option - I’m sure lots would include in the spec!
