Just introducing ourselves as new owners of our California Ocean 2018. After motorhoming for many years we decided to move to a smaller vehicle, for many reasons actually, and the California Ocean seemed like the best option. I would be so interested in how you adapt to your new, more compact vehicle. I imagine there are a lot of people moving the other way from a camper to a motorhome although I could be wrong.

We're not in our first youth but love our van and the freedom it offers us. I hope 'too old' doesn't arrive for many years!

Hello. So many reasons we bought a smaller vehicle. Might not stay away in it for more than a couple of nights but who knows, only time will tell. Love the style of the VW California and after having a VW Golf!l as our car we really like the brand's quality. It gives us options. Needed a vehicle we can drive around in when we are away. Very difficult to do that in a motorhome unless you are a very confident large vehicle driver, that's what we found. Anyway, only time will tell. Thanks for your message. Thank you, I would be really interested in you Cali journeys.
We never camped or 'vanned' before we bought our first converted Transporter just under 4 years ago but loved it enough to exchange the van for a California Ocean early last year.
We spend weeks away in our van now in the UK and in Europe. We hope to tackle Scotland, Sweden and Norway later this year. We first saw more than a week away in the van as a challenge, we now see it as an expectation!
The secret of staying away for long durations for us is a well appointed site (location, toilets, shower and preferably not too far from a pub and decent walks).
You will find your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to stay the odd night in a hotel if you need a break, sometimes it just feels like the right or necessary thing to do!
