T5 Cali on order
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to introduce ourselves! We're new to the group and purchased our 2015 T5.1 California back in August.

This isn't our first camper. We actually started our van life journey in 2021 (Covid purchase - would never have had myself down for campervanning and now I love it!) with a 1993 Toyota Hiace (a 2.8D 4WD Japanese import). It was probably a great van in its day, but time isn't kind to 30-year-old Japanese metal!

We decided it was time for an upgrade for a few reasons:

  • Parts availability in the UK was nearly non-existent.
  • It was glacially slow.
  • There was no real sense of community or forum support, likely due to the small number of owners.
We are so happy with the Cali. It has just over 50k on the clock with a full VW service history, and it feels like a 5-star hotel compared to the old Hiace!

It appears to have a few factory-fit upgrades, including the xenon headlamps and an electric sliding side door. To be honest, the side door is proving to be a bit of a pain, and I already wish it was manual!

We're really looking forward to being part of a proper community. For those of you heading to the club Dorset meet this weekend, we'll be there and look forward to seeing you!

Cheers,

Welcome. Looks nice. The sliding door can be converted to Manual if it gets too much, but it does involve a little internal butchery.

Looks sweet....welcome.
