Afternoon everyone!

After nearly 15 years away from the VW scene, I'm very pleased to say I finally picked up my first ever Campervan yesterday - a 2021 California Ocean, 150 in Ascot Grey (haven't named yet). So happy with it! I've always wanted a camper, since I was a kid and my parents had a Type 2 Bay window kombi in the mid 80's, but the timing was never right.

I used to run a small local VW club called Beedubs in the 2000's (my avatar is of my Audi TT that was part of an award winning stand at BVF one year) when I had several - a couple of Corrado's, a Polo Breadvan etc. I still actually have a '71 1302S "Super Beetle" Convertible in my garage - in bits and has been for nearly 15 years...

Oh well, I look forward to speaking to you all and attached is an image of the van.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks everyone, yeah it was colour and the wheels that attracted me to this specific one. I'd seen others that were newer etc, but when I saw this one, I think it was love at first sight! The 18" Palmerston wheels look so nice on these!

It's only done 21k miles and has been kept inside, so is in really good nick as well. Just a couple really small items I need to solve;
  1. latch on one of the interior doors has broken - VW approved used, so they apologised for not spotting and will fix FOC.
  2. The awning has never been used o_O I tried popping it out quickly yesterday, but I couldn't get the locking mechanism on the legs to take. I've read others with this issue on here when first deploying the legs, so will try some silicon spray (unless others have any advice?) and pushing harder. Probably just still from never being used!
  3. The headlight beam seems really low (to the point I missed a turning last night, because I couldn't see it in time), so I'll see if that needs adjusting, but again that'll all be covered.

You might not have pulled the catch on the awning legs far enough.apply a bit more force (not too much) and they should lock.

:welcome

Did you get the Job ? :Iamsorry

Regarding the awning leg, push harder, it feels like the plastic will snap , but it doesn't.

Presumably your van has LED lights , which should auto level ?

Thanks I'll try pushing harder

Van does indeed have LED lights, which do auto level, but auto levelling lights still need adjusting to be the correct initial level. I feel like mine have not been done correctly.

Update on the awning - managed to sort by poking a screwdriving in and moving the metal tab up a little as I pushed the latch. Now it all works as expected! :cool:

Oh and also did a bit of old school "up against the garage door" alignment on the lights last night, seems fine now.
