Personally I wouldn’t bother. Don’t think it’s a legal requirement unless your renting it out or your insurance is insisting on one. Quite easy to replace gas components yourself if they fail and are readily available in the club shop.

A Habitation Check is designed for coach built Motorhomes and Caravans because of the method of construction primarily. It doesn’t apply to Van Conversions per se. Only a gas safety check is required in Germany , for German registered vehicles , and if you plan on renting the vehicle out for payment. No VW Dealership will carry out these checks.

I had one booked with a caravan company - he said it wasn't needed, just check the date on the rubber gas hose and replace as needed
