Hi everyone, it looks like this question hasn’t been asked for a few years, sorry if I have missed a thread.
We have a lovely new T7 ocean and we’re thinking GAP insurance was a good idea. Some companies won’t quote due to the high list price, which is fine.
Where companies have quoted based on the number plate, when the small print is checked it states that they do not cover motorhomes. Obviously the question on designation of the California will gone on forever, but when I talk to someone they say it isn’t covered.
I don’t want to risk taking the cover out online to be told I am not covered if I need it, so, does anyone know of any companies that will provide GAP insurance for a T7 with a list price of £92k?

Many insurers provide new for old cover as standard on campervan policies. With Comfort it’s for the first 3 yrs, believe it’s 2yrs with some other providers. Can negate any benefit from gap insurance so you may want to check and consider moving insurance companies if necessary to save yourself the (usually high) cost of a separate gap policy.

Some new car dealers don’t even raise the subject of gap insurance given the number of insurers offering replacement new vehicles for the first 1, 2, or 3 years (within mileage limits). We had this occur on our Cali and a new car bought this year. The car salesman we dealt with this year told me it’s not something their dealership group even offers any longer.

I’d choose an Motorhome insurer that provides this new for old feature.

I haven’t used them for my California, but I have used them for cars

The good thing about ALA is you can speak to a human

Has been a fair bit in the press recently about dealerships offering financial products in the past with poor advice, with the sole purpose of receiving brokerage / commission.

So this might be the reason why dealers no longer promote such products.
