G-A-R-Y
So, van is three year old 680, brake light was done two years ago, also I extended the VW warranty 2 months ago.
I just noticed the well know water dripping off the grab handle on the left side leak, not much, just a few mm in cup holder. I've shone a light over the top rear cupboard and all is dry and dusty.
I'm not going to waste time with VW so thought about caravan dealers but they're all to busy fixing leaky motorhomes. Then I thought it's just like sealing a big shower so I'd give it a go.
I first noticed/sealed the edge of the solar panel which had lifted on the NS, I think where the connection goes through the roof. Then I decided to have a go at the rest, I did the back corners a little and then cleaned the long left hand side, first with scotch bright pads then isopropyl then an airline. I used CT1 from Toolstation, it's UV stable and guaranteed to stay white. I think the leak has stopped already because it's rained on what I've done. It's difficult to see because it's so white, next is to do across the windscreen then the right side, I need to build a platform.

I hope the leak stops and if it does I can alway redo the sealant in a more professional way when the weather improves.
BTW, There are some instructions out there on sealing the third brake light yourself without removing cupboards, on my van that's not possible, there is barely an inch of space to shine a torch in, let alone get your hands in. I think the best way is to cut a hatch through to top rear cupbourd top/cardboard.
