Just over 2 years ownership with Princess Doris. We are based in Cheshire and have had multiple trips to France, Scotland, North Wales/Anglesey, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lake District, Midlands.
We haven't done the south coast or west country.
We would like to plan a trip to the Dorset coast area between Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
Looking for suggestions for good quality sites on or very close to a Beach.
Thanks In Advance

Dorset is not very camper van or car friendly. Take your business elsewhere.

Many carparks exclude California's but allow larger SUVs. It's also well endowed with speed cameras.

I drove from East Devon to Poole this week and my speed camera system reported about 6 camera locations in Devon which is about half way. There were then 50 locations in the next 37 miles and I think one got me at about 34mph.

The speeds limits are constantly changing for no apparent reason (other than revenue generation!) and there's some 30mph limits on what's a 3 lane A road out of town.

My Google maps and Speed camera database were often inconsistent with the actual speed limit.

Bl**** nightmare.

Nice campsite at Axmouth with two nice pubs in the village. Or Beer Head Campsite with stunning views and coastal walks to Branscombe.

You can always take a bus over the border into Lyme Regis if you really feel the need to.

That was a fab meet but the campsite were quite un-accommodating to some folks who cancelled and were real jobsworths regards to pitching up. All on the thread above.

We are just back from Highlands End near West Bay and had a lovely stay looking out over the sea.

Hi, one of our favourites is https://www.porteshamdairyfarm.co.uk/
Quiet site, lovely village and a couple of miles from Abbotsbury Gardens and Swannery.

We have also visited https://seadownholidaypark.co.uk/ a couple of times.
The site goes right down to the beach, where there is a fossil museum.
Pleasant small town on Jurrasic Bus route.
https://www.dorsetleisurecentre.co.uk/ is worth a visit for odds and ends.
Also the car parks are run by the Town Council so Dorset's 4.8m rule doesn't apply.

Can be really cheap depending on the season. The touring site overlooks Chesil Beach, and Weymouth is just about walkable, and there is a garden centre and Coop within 10 minutes walk. Better than expected!
Enjoy Dorset, there is much to see.

ps https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/parking/find-a-carpark/find-a-car-park is useless, but give you an idea what you're up against.

Good morning
We live in Somerset less than an hour's drive from the Jurassic coast. There's many campsites along that stretch. If you're looking for a peaceful, no frills spot then look no further than Sea Barn Farm at Fleet on Chesil beach.
It has fantastic views. We were there last week. £45 per night with hook up. Large grass pitch. Shower block spotless. Small shop. If you look at their reviews folk complain about the rules, which there are many. But none apply to us. We've stayed there many times and had a lovely peaceful time. The Fat Badger at Wyke is more lively with a bar and restaurant. But you really are spoilt for choice. Happy travels

Highlands End is a great site but as for club meets, complete waste of time. Nothing organised, not even a greeting. We were first timers and found it disappointing from a club point t of view. Site was great though.
