We have just finished travelling around Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. We wanted to shout out a couple of gems - very different but all great for different reasons.
Before we start, we traveled from Stoke to Cornwall first and to break the journey]y we stayed on The Jamaica Inn car park - spot on. £10 for the night - use of toilets, and we paid for a breakfast which was spot on. A very comfy stay.
Then, during our travels we stayed on 3 great sites, Firstly the Wheal Rodney Park. Well situated on the outskirts of Marazion, Cornwall - with St Michael’s mount a 15 minute stroll away (steep hill involved) this is a great site for exploring. £25 a night gets you on, grass pitch with hook-up. They have an indoor heated pool, usual facilities inc washers / dryers and a reasonably priced shop. Staff are fab and the park is clean.
Beer Head Caravan Park, Beer, Devon. Again, a lovely site. £35 a night for hard standing with hook up. Usual facilities, only thing - the toilets and showers are basic (would be warm in the summer but were cold out of season, though were all in good order and clean. Lovely park, fab bistro with great food, and breathtaking views.
Last one was a surprise really as we don’t usually go for the family entertainment style parks (we travel on our own - in our late 50’s so avoid them usually - nothing against them but we’ve done our bit with the kids ). However, Freshwater Beach Holiday Park, Bridport, Dorset. Set on the Jurassic Coast, right on the beach. What doesn’t it have. Indoor & outdoor heated pools, kids play areas, 10-pin Bowling, Bars, great food, a plethora of showers and toilets (all spotless). Very well situated for exploring some lovely local villages (thatched properties everywhere) and a very friendly team. The dearest of our stays at £40 hard standing but it was a fully serviced pitch with all the facilities included - well worth it.
There are plenty of great stays in these 3 breathtaking counties, we wanted to call out these 3 as we found them special for different reasons and well situated oo explore. Wander, Camp, Repeat.
Travel safe, be respectful, stay well.
