The issue is:

Battery Level shows as 5V although fully charged (measured voltage on brand new leisure battery - yes the one under the bonnet - is 12.75V)

Current in/out shows as 0A even when charging or discharging

Water and Waste Tank levels not working - show 0% always

Lighting Cannot be Controlled from control panel - eg ambient light

Even the Ambient (coloured strip) cannot be controlled from the switch next to bed

Camping Mode does not work

Step cannot be controlled from panel, but goes in and out fine as slider is opened and closed.

The only thing that seems to be controllable from the main control panel is the heating. Heating also controllable from the panel on the little door under the passenger seat.

The van has been in VW Yeomans Exeter for three months and despite requesting help from VW technical in UK and Germany they have not been able to fix it. They tried putting in a new Operating and Control Unit for Camping E153 aka The Control Panel by the Toilet Door and a new Special Vehicle Control Unit J608 (a black box in the passenger footwell) but it made no difference.

Software all up to date and fuses checked.

Has anybody else had this issue?

If the GC thinks the battery is at a low state of charge it will shut down a lot of the consumers like water pump etc. The charge % indicated by the control panel is not just calculated from voltage but from ampere hours used. It may well be the ah counter is out of calibration although the voltage reading would suggest the KFG is not correctly reporting the voltage. Do a reset of the panel by turning the red switch in the utility cupboard off for 30s then back on and see if the voltage reading corrects. If not switch the red switch back off and pull the blue plug on the KFG and replace after 30s, turn red switch back on. If the voltage now shows as measured with a meter but the charge % still shows 0% plug the GC into hookup for 24-48 hours and it should reset.
