Awning rail corrosion?

Hi all.
I just noticed that both awning rails on my 6.1 ocean have strange marks. Looks like rust / corrosion. I sent images to the dealer and he said he never seen anything like this before. He asked how I was the van....
The van is hand washed and only done around 6 times.
Anyone else experience this?

Never seen anything like that before on a Cali does look like something has reacted with the finish. the roof in the pictures looked like something is coating it or reacting with it

Mine looks similar. Don't think it's corrosion though.

The issue is with the extrusion, the Anodising has then reacted to the original issue with the extrusion.

I would suggest VW should replace the rail under warranty

Hello. Mine from new was applied with polish before I picked it up. Before they polished, it was fine and immediately after it had a strange corroded look. I mentioned it to salesmen and he said that happened but it was a process the rail went through and then it would look ok. Needles to say after 10 months it still looks the small - a strange mottled effect.. I quite like it now and happy to live with it,
