Awning bracket rust

Has anyone else had issues with their awning bracket rusting at an increased rate?

This is mine after a year…

seems very early to have rusted like that. Our second van was 8 years old when we sold it, and the brackets were as good as new. Our current van is June 2024 and has no issues.

Either make a warranty claim or paint/spray with some ACF 50 and forget about it.

Will see how much hassle the warranty claim will be first; but acf50 looks like the business
Having a white van, rust marks are brutal to remove (it’s marked all the rubber seals so far as well)

I'm very sorry for that. I park my california outside every night, in every climate condition, and I don't have this problem. I live in ITaly.

On the T6 they were / are aluminium.
On T6 they don't have the clear tape underneath the bracket.
They must have changed the material (due to some failures reported)

Your profile does not say what van, gauging from your previous posts presume T7 ?

Id start by sending your VW dealership an email with the shared photo and ask them what they think of it.
That is not acceptable and will only get worse.

Your other option is getting the brackets powder coated locally. They shouldn't charge you more than £50
