2019 Cali DSG auto - Loud grinding noise when driving between 15-20mph

Hi all, I currently have the van in with VW and it looks like they are unable to locate the above noise. The grinding happens all the time (hot/cold) when driving between 15-20mph and then stops. I had a local garage look at it and he suspected it to be gear related but unsure.

Is that connected to specific gear? Ideally if you put it into manual and try each gear with various rpm

Try putting it in neutral at the problem speed and freewheeling, that should isolate the gbox from the equation. If it goes away then it’s driveshaft/hub related.

Thanks for the help. I have put it in neutral and the noise remains. VW have not a clue where to start but will pass this on. The only thing they said is that there is no noise when it’s driven on the ramp.

Ok so clearly not gearbox.

Could it be a stone caught in the caliper or dust shield?

Just Jack it up, spin the wheels etc and have a listen/poke around.

Have you had new tyres fitted or changed your wheels? I once had the weights incorrectly fitted to the inside of the wheels and they came into contact with the calipers as I was driving, it made a horrible grinding noise.
