I recently bought a Cada Safari Chef, at first I was really happy and it seemed to burn with power. Then it started to become less powerfull and I thought it had to do with the fact that the gas cartridge was getting empty. However with a new gas cartridge the problem persisted. I screw the gas bottle directly to the Chef.
Anybody had this problem before?

No direct experience, but I am wondering if it may be temperature related.
Was the external temperature colder when you noticed the reduction in performance?

Yes, temperature will make a big difference. I never found the safari chef to have a particularly powerful flame at the best of times.

As above, could very well be due to low temperatures. I have a little thermal cover over my canister (got it from an angling shop) and it really helps the flame in cold weather.

I don’t have the issues you listed.

In fact I find that it burns too hot most of the time and I have to turn it down low.

I’ve had this problem on 2 separate safari chef 2 HP’s. (Wasn’t hot enough to char steak etc) After consultation with cadac / sending them a video, they suspected I needed a new control valve. Cadac said they can wear over time.

Here’s the link for the new valve which was about £17, a 5minute fit and seems fine now.

Is yours a low pressure type used with a regular gas bottle rather than hp with cannister? If so, I find it burns hot most of the time too. Had to buy an induction for those simmering moments!!
Going into our 4th season with the Cadac now with no issues yet. :thumb
